TOTAL RECALL – ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER – My Unbelievably True-Life Story (Book Review)
One of the most incredible & fascinating autobiographies I have read till date TOTAL RECALL-ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER- My Unbelievably True-Life Story.
The world’s most remarkable actor, businessman & world leader.
His mindset, the passion & hunger for something I haven’t read in any other book or person. From a young age he knew what he really needs with life when the world was at the back of war and struggling survival. He was visualizing his success story persistently working on his dream to be a Legend. He set goals then achieved them over & over. Failures inspired him to work harder & harder.
Born in the small city of Austria in 1947, Arnold moves to Los Angeles at the age of twenty-one within ten years he was a millionaire businessman. After 20 years he was the world’s biggest movie star. In 2003 he was elected governor of California & became the household name around the world. He proved he was a real “Terminator ” in real life too.
This is the book that has changed my life, not only that it has changed my complete perspective on regards to be physically fit and why the exercise or workout is so important in our regular day to day life. Before leaving for Europe, he was in ARMY he became a threat to the authority when he drove a tank in water and a drag race with another tank, he had that attitude of boldness as seen in TERMINATOR. His mum was scared seeing the posters of bodybuilders pinned in the wall made her think he was going in the wrong direction, the fantasy, obsession of being the greatest bodybuilder was from his childhood, sexual harassment on the journey was also his bitter truth he went through.
The bodybuilding carrier is written in a well-detailed step by step since he won the small city award to Mr. Universe. Everybody won’t like the journey and story of his hard work and gym repetitions. I found it so valuable regards to his mindset to achieve his dream as a bodybuilder. Nothing in this world is achieved without dreaming day and night and every moment of visualization in the need for what exactly you need to achieve. Achieving a dream is putting an effort, being passionate, hard work, perseverance, sweat and the most important thing is Discipline, he had to quit beer and alcohol the most he enjoyed and loved to get his body in shape. He won many titles in Europe which made him move to America. By the age of 21 he was living American life in Los – Angeles and had been crowned Mr. Universe within five years he learned English and became the greatest bodybuilder in the world.
Achieving a dream is putting an effort, being passionate, hard work, perseverance, sweat and the most important thing is Discipline, he had to quit beer and alcohol the most he enjoyed and loved to get his body in shape.
In the US his body attracted the attention of the filmmaker and eventually, he landed in Hollywood with a friend connection and debuted the first movie in 1970. His first ‘’best acting debut in the motion picture” was his “STAY HUNGRY” in 1976. It was not his debut role as he already had played in “HERCULES IN NEW York” and “THE LONG GOODBYE”. After 20 years he was the biggest movie star giving the best movies to remember till date ‘’Conan the Barbarian-1982’’, The terminator-1984, Escape Plan- 2013, The Expandable 3 -2014, and so on. When you go through the memoir it hasn’t been written in so detail about the journey becoming a movie star as a comparison to bodybuilding and achieving the goal.
He has talked about his political carrier too. After his 36-year coming from Austria to America known by fellow bodybuilders, business enterprises in the Real estate he was elected a Republican Governor of California in 2003, the seventh economy of the world, from then he was the most popular celebrity in politics and hope for the exact in the US, considering Everything is possible, For them who have traveled to the US to fulfill their dream. With Maria Shriver, he raised 4 fantastic kids, 2 daughters, and 2 sons. He always tried to keep his family together despite any scandal and controversies.
It’s very difficult to sum the book in a few paragraphs. I would suggest if you haven’t got the habit of reading books you should start with this one or if you have joined the gym much time and quited it could be the best inspirational book to rejoin. Besides the memoir, I felt like it’s one of the best motivational books to make you achieve your Dream of Success. Giving 5 stars.
